Winter Gem or Green Velvet?

For a taller boxwood hedge, compare Winter Gem with the more compact Green Velvet. Match the mature plant to your available space, then confirm the size supplied.

Height and foliage

NC State lists Winter Gem at 4–6 feet tall with lighter green foliage. Its Green Velvet reference lists a rounded plant 2–3 feet tall and wide with deep green foliage. These are growing references, not delivery sizes or a guaranteed hedge height.

Site and care

Littleleaf boxwood needs well-drained soil and protection from harsh winter exposure. Wet soil can cause root rot; boxwood blight remains a concern.
