Choose the site before the blue color.

Blue Spruce (Picea pungens) is a substantial evergreen with stiff, pointed needles. Its distinctive color is only one part of the decision: climate, drainage and room for the branches matter.

Climate and drainage
Best suited to cooler climates, with full sun and moist, well-drained soil. Heat and humidity can make it a poor fit; delivery coverage does not mean every planting site is suitable.
Room to grow
The species typically reaches 30–60 feet tall and 10–20 feet wide. Cultivars vary, so confirm the exact plant before planning its space. These are mature dimensions, not sold heights.
Airflow and watering
Colorado Blue Spruce is highly susceptible to Rhizosphaera needle cast. Allow air circulation between plants and keep sprinklers from wetting the needles.

Growing guidance: NC State Extension’s Blue Spruce growing reference; University of Minnesota Extension’s needle cast guidance.

Share your ZIP, planting-area photo and intended height. Ask us to confirm the cultivar, supplied size, root or container form, current-stock photo and what the installed price covers before ordering.
